Crusher Drive
Motor, Flywheel Drive & Coupling Selection
Crusher drives live with shock: every lump that enters produces a torque spike, and jaw crushers rely on a flywheel to carry the peak. The motor has to have the thermal capacity for continuous shock duty, not just the rated power.
Send us the crusher type, capacity and power supply. We select the motor, belt or fluid coupling drive, and starter, and quote them as one matched package.
What we need from you to select this drive
The more of this you send, the faster and more accurate the selection. If you only have part of it, send what you have — we will tell you what is still missing.
Duty data and site conditions
| Crusher type | Jaw, gyratory, cone, impact, hammer or roll crusher, with model |
|---|---|
| Capacity | Throughput in tph, feed size and product size in mm |
| Material | Compressive strength, abrasiveness, moisture, bulk density |
| Motor power | Installed or required motor power in kW, and the crusher speed in rpm |
| Transmission | V-belt drive with flywheel, direct coupling, or fluid coupling |
| Power supply | Voltage, frequency, phases, permitted voltage drop, medium-voltage requirement |
| Duty | Running hours, whether the crusher starts loaded, tramp iron protection |
| Site conditions | Ambient temperature, altitude, dust, indoor or outdoor |
How we select it
- 1
Establish the absorbed power from the crusher type, capacity and material strength.
- 2
Confirm the flywheel inertia and the peak torque so the motor and transmission carry the shock.
- 3
Select the transmission — V-belt with flywheel, fluid coupling, or direct drive.
- 4
Check the motor thermal capacity for continuous shock duty and the start-up against the voltage drop.
- 5
Quote the matched package including overload and tramp iron protection.
Selection points that decide the outcome
Shock duty sets the motor
Torque spikes from individual lumps mean the motor needs thermal margin beyond the average absorbed power. Specify shock duty.
Flywheel inertia
Jaw crushers store energy in the flywheel to pass the peak. If the flywheel or the belt drive is changed, the motor loading changes with it.
Belt tension and alignment
V-belt drives need correct tension and alignment. Poor tension shortens belt and bearing life and changes the effective ratio under load.
Tramp iron protection
Uncrushable material destroys a crusher. Specify overload protection — fluid coupling, hydraulic release or a controlled drive — with the drive package.
Starting a loaded crusher
If the chamber is not cleared before stopping, the drive must restart with material in it. Rate the starter for that case.
An indicative package
An example of how a selection comes together. Your figures will differ — this is to show the level of detail we return with a quotation, not a fixed configuration.

Answers before you ask
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply crusher drive packages as well as complete crushers?
Yes. We supply the motor, transmission, coupling and control for crushers, and separately provide procurement consulting for complete crushers sourced from vetted Chinese manufacturers.
Which is better for a jaw crusher, a V-belt drive or a fluid coupling?
A V-belt drive with a flywheel is the conventional, simpler arrangement and stores energy to pass the crushing peak. A fluid coupling adds soft starting and overload protection. We will recommend one against your crusher and duty.
Do you only supply the eight brands shown on your homepage?
No. We source and supply spare units and parts for most international and Chinese industrial brands, not only the eight brands shown on this site.
I do not know the exact model number. Can you still quote?
Yes. Send us a photo of the nameplate and we will identify the exact unit before preparing the quotation for the original part.
Do you supply genuine original manufacturer parts?
Yes. We supply genuine original manufacturer parts. Send us a photo of the nameplate and we can identify the exact unit before quoting, so you do not need to look up a model number.
Do you provide installation guidance, commissioning and after-sales support?
Yes. We provide installation guidance, commissioning support and after-sales support, remotely or on site depending on your project.
What is the delivery time?
Lead time depends on the product and configuration. We confirm the delivery schedule together with the quotation, so you have a firm date before you order.
Which export documents and certificates can you provide?
We can provide applicable CE and ISO documentation, certificates of origin, packing lists and test reports according to the requirements of your destination country.
What payment terms and incoterms do you work with?
We accept T/T and L/C payment, and quote FOB, CIF or EXW terms to suit your project.
Send the duty data and we will select the package
We return a selection with the ratings, service factors and alternates stated — so you can compare before you buy.
